Today I flipped open the first page in the new chapter of my life. The moment I opened the glass doors painted with the University of Baltimore logo, my heart sank to my feet. My face was met with a gust of wind from the chilled atmosphere of the school. My heart began to beat audibly over my thoughts. In an instance, it dawned on me that I have begun a new phase in my life. This is real, I am now an ACTUAL COLLEGE STUDENT. As I took my next few steps in a wave of sadness coursed through my body. I looked around and saw nothing but unfamiliar faces. The people I spent the past four years bonding with and getting to know during high school with were nowhere to be found. It felt so new, so uncomfortable, like a part of me was missing. I guess it was normal right? It was a change and like all changes it was new and uncomfortable.
Three months later…
Today the semester is coming to a close and I genuinely had an amazing time. I was worried for nothing. In the beginning, it felt so uncomfortable, and to make it worse, I thought I was embarking on this journey alone. However, I was never alone, I learned so much about myself, and met some amazing people along the way. I joined the BLW fellowship and made some lifelong friends. Best of all, I received the Holy Spirit, and I am excited to embark on this new journey as a committed Christian. Who would’ve known that within these four walls, I would receive the greatest gift ever? It is just the beginning and I have so much to be thankful for. My first year taught me how to survive through college, it taught me to never give up, and that I am enough and do not need to be surrounded by people to be happy. I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything else.
