WHAT ARE HORMONES?

 

Hormones are messengers (in chemical form) released from certain glands (endocrine glands) in your body that travels through the blood to influence the nervous system to regulate your behaviors such as aggression, mating, parenting of individuals, feelings of jealousy, love, hatred, etc.

Secondly, a good knowledge of the hormones responsible for the behavior we display as individuals would help us further understand how to hack the body’s hormonal activities to enable us get the desired results from our bodies.

So lets take a look at the hormones responsible for the behavior we like to show to people as well as the ones responsible for the behavior we want to hide behind closed doors, if you know what I mean, lol.

 

WHICH HORMONES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE GOOD, BAD AND UGLY BEHAVIOR WE DISPLAY

 

  1. LOVE/JEALOUSY:

Love and jealousy are both linked to the same hormone, oxytocin. This hormone is also responsible for maternal bonding with her offspring. It is also the love hormone affecting behavior such as trust, empathy and generosity.

 

  1. SELF-PITY, SORROW AND PAIN:

The hormone prolactin is involved with self pity, crying and weeping.

 

  1. STRESS:

The adrenocorticotropic hormones are associated with high stress levels in an individual.

 

  1. HAPPINESS:

The hormones Dopamine, serotonine, oxytocin, and endorphins are happiness hormones.

 

  1. FEAR/ANXIETY:

The hormones adrenaline and cortisol boost anxiety and fear

 

  1. SADNESS/DEPRESSION:

Depleted levels of serotonin and estrogen have been linked to sadness and depression.

Now lets’ go on to learn how to apply this hack in curing depression, anxiety disorders, long term fearfulness, anger management.

 

HOW TO CURE DEPRESSION, ANXIETY DISORDER AND STRESS ON THE BASIS OF THE HORMONE-BEHAVIOR RELATIONSHIP

 

 

The summary of this hack is to deliberately perform those activities that are associated with certain hormones in order to trigger the release of these hormones and bring about the desired responses and experiences. It’s just like going to your house through the back door. But who really cares? As long as you get to your destination right?

Alright, so below are activities that would trigger the release of the desired hormones and bring about relief from depression, anxiety, long term anger and even stress.

 

 

  1. EXERCISE/PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

Engaging in exercises/physical activities like early morning jogs, aerobics at the gym, swimming, dancing, sports, etc, causes your body to release anti-depressant hormones, as well as happiness hormones as listed earlier. Doing this as your daily routine would maintain high levels of the happiness hormones while depleting the levels of your sadness hormones.

Your daily exercise routine can be 30 minutes a day, and 3-5 times a week.

 

 

  1. MEDITATION:

 

 

Meditation in simple terms is the act of engaging in a mental exercise, such as deep breathing or repeating a mantra or phrase, to achieve some kind of benefit. This benefit might be a certain type of feeling, boosting mental capabilities, relaxation, etc.

In Christianity, Christians meditate on truths found in the bible in addition to repeating the words to themselves. This has proven to be an effective way of relieving depression, stress and anxiety.

Meditation also involves deep breathing techniques which can help calm your mind. In deep breathing, you take in air through your nose and then you breathe out through your mouth. It important you keep your mouth in a shape as though you want to whistle, to achieve maximum relaxation effect.

 

 

  1. HOBBIES AND RECREATION:

It is a common occurrence that when an individual who is not pressed visits the lavatory or goes near a toilet, that individual most likely would instantly develop the desire to defecate. This is because the odor from the toilet as well as the memories of the toilet which the individual has would trigger the body to release hormones connected to those memories.

Therefore when an individual is depressed or sad, he or she should engage in activities that bring memories of happiness, love or even fulfillment. This might be hobbies or recreational activities. These memories would in turn cause the body to release hormones in turn make the individuals to feel the same emotions associated with those memories.

If the cause of depression is location-bound, the individual can also consider leaving such location. This is because such location would constantly bring back memories of the sad events that led to depression in the first place and this is also accompanied by the negative emotions the memories bring along.

 

THE BOTTOM LINE

An individual who constantly feels fly, happy and fulfilled has actively practiced doing things that make him feel that way. This is done consciously or subconsciously. Then in return the body rewards such an individual with higher concentrations of the desired hormone which constantly keeps him or her in that happy state.

So your goal is to be on the out-look for activities that make you feel good and do more of them as opposed to doing more of the activities that make you feel gloomy and sad. This way you will always feel happy, content and ready to spread your wings and fly.
